The Pennsylvania Academy of Music’s Inreach program invites regional schools: public, private, and homeschool students, to our state-of-the-art performance facility and asks students to be active participants in our interactive music programs led by accomplished musicians. As a part of our Outreach objectives, the Inreach program completes the circle by having students come to our facility and experience first-hand a live, enriching concert. Come join our second season of Inreach Programs at the Academy!
What can the clarinet, cello, and piano play together? Find out when you come to the Chamber Ensembles student concert! Just like on a basketball team, each instrument has their role and purpose when playing together. Their goal is to work together to make a successful piece of music (for our enjoyment!). Led by The Newstead Trio's cellist, Sara Male, see other students in middle and high school share their talents and music at this exciting concert.
Did you know that Jazz was invented in America only a little over 100 years ago? Musicians started to swing, bebop, keep it cool, and get funky to all sorts of tunes that inspired them. Learn about how jazz kept evolving into different styles throughout the years, what "improvisation" means, and why it's so much fun to make the music of jazz!
Students will arrive by their own bus or van to the front of the building and be ushered into the facility. The students will be seated in the Steinman Hall, a 364-seat, state-of-the-art concert hall aided by ushers from our volunteer staff and administration. Each student will receive program notes as well as information on our other programs and concert offerings at the PA Academy of Music.
"My students loved (the event) today and were very inspired by the music and their stories. It was outstanding and I really appreciate the way Rodney Mack and the rest of the group took the time to talk with my students, they were very impressed by that."
-Mr. Steve Goss (Director of Bands), Ephrata Middle School
"The students and faculty were impressed with your beautiful facility. The performance onstage was fabulous. The students learned that hours of musical practice pay off; this provided good motivation for them."
-Janice Estabrook, Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13 (on The Newstead Trio)
