The Pennsylvania Academy of Music, a non-profit pre-collegiate institution, is completing construction of a multi-million dollar facility to provide a comprehensive world-class program of music instruction and public performances. The result of a public-private partnership, the new Academy is designed to be a music destination for a multi-generational community of students, educators, and performers from around the world.
- Founded in 1989 by Frances Veri and Michael Jamanis, the original recording artists of George Gershwin’s two-piano scores.
- One of only 12 autonomous pre-collegiate music schools in the U.S. accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
- Located (as of June 11, 2008) at 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster, Pa. 17603.
- Groundbreaking: May 18, 2006.
- Scheduled opening: June 11, 2008.
- Last performing arts venue designed by Philip Johnson, famed designer of the Seagram Building and AT&T headquarters in New York City, PPG in Pittsburgh, and the Crystal Cathedral in California.
- Acoustics by Dr. Cyril Harris, acoustician for the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The Pennsylvania Academy of Music is a non-profit pre-collegiate institution dedicated to the musical advancement of its students. Founded in 1990, the Academy attracts students from an immediate nine-county area as well as from around the world, who study disciplines ranging from instrumental, chamber music, orchestra, opera and vocal performance to music composition and theory, improvisation, accompanying ,jazz and recording. The Academy has a widely accomplished international faculty and is one of only 12 autonomous pre-collegiate music schools in the country accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
