Violinist Arnold Steinhardt to Sign His Book During "Academy Day" at Lancaster Barnes and Noble

Arnold Steinhardt, first violinist with the Guarneri String Quartet, will sign copies of his book, “Violin Dreams,” at Barnes and Noble Booksellers on Fruitville Pike in Lancaster at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2007. The book-signing is part of a “Pennsylvania Academy of Music Day” at the Lancaster Barnes and Noble from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Supporters of the Academy who use a special voucher with their purchases will have a percentage of the net sale donated to the Academy on that day. Vouchers can be printed from the Academy's web site at www.pamusacad.org.

Steinhardt will be in the Lancaster region participating in the Academy's summer festival, Music Naturally, performing on several programs and presenting a masterclass for students. Students from the festival will be performing during the booksigning.

The Pennsylvania Academy of Music has hosted Arnold Steinhardt for several years as a participant and instructor during the Academy's summer festival. Steinhardt was the teacher of the festival's artistic director, Michael T. Jamanis.
Publishers Weekly has called Steinhardt's book an “opus at once heroic and brillante.” Kirkus has called it “a backstage pass to the life of an accomplished solo and ensemble musician, held together by sheer love of music.” The book tells the story of Steinhardt's search for the perfect violin and the perfect way to play Bach's Chaconne.
